2. PARABENS: Parabens have been used in many skincare products since the 1950s, but studies show they’re not the safest choice as a preservative. Parabens score a 7/10 on EWG.org because they mimic estrogen—they’ve been found in breast tumors and have been linked to reproductive issues, early onset puberty, and low sperm count. (Good news!
